32

As I say it every week, time is flying by! We're quickly approaching the end of this pregnancy and I'd say we're pretty much ready (minus the fact that we still need to buy his car seat so we can bring him home).

I kicked off the week with the obligatory belly shots.

My photographer neglected to mention my hair was a little wacky for these pics.

After a long day at work, I officially noted some swollen feet. Poor little piggies!

John often tells me that I don't look pregnant from behind. So, I finally decided to document the compliment before it becomes untrue.

Our little guy is still putting on quite the ninja moves at night. I love how John gets so excited to feel him move and often just sits on the couch resting his hand(s) on my belly.

Story time- this time with a new book "The Night the World Turned Royal Blue." This book was written by a local dad, summarizing the Royal's 2014 Wild Card game to get into the World Series. The author had written the book in dedication to his son, who was just a few weeks old at the time of the game. Definitely a favorite in the collection.

I headed to see my OB again on Friday AM. As usual, the appointment started with a BPP. Little man did good despite being stubborn with a good profile shot and giving us some obvious breathing movements. Although we didn't get a good profile shot, we managed to get a picture of his cute, little toes!

My visit with my OB went well. I asked a lot of questions around signs of labor, when to call, when to not call, etc. She eased my mind with a lot of things. It's crazy to me that we're almost to the end and that these questions will soon become reality.

The weekend brought forth a lot of nesting projects. John was gracious enough to assemble the dresser. Poor guy spent a good majority of his Saturday putting the thing together. His hard work paid off and the dresser is absolutely perfect for his room.

Hard at work. Please ignore the clutter in the background.....

So perfect and already organized with baby blankets and apparel.

We managed to sneak in a last minute date night on Saturday to take a break from the dresser assembly. John managed to find our favorite food trucks all gathered in a nearby park. As usual, the food did not disappoint! It was gorgeous weather and we enjoyed the time together.

We finished off our weekend with our maternity photo shoot out at Shannon's farm Sunday evening. We had originally planned the pictures for Saturday night, but a cloudy day with no sun caused us to re-schedule. Sunday started out mostly cloudy with little moments of sun, so we took a gamble and headed to Shannon's. The weather was perfect and the sun gave us great evening light for an hour so we could get through pictures. It could not have been more perfect! We had a great time shooting the session and we can't wait to see the proofs!!

Week 32, you were good to us, and we can't wait to see what week 33 has in store!

Fun at 31

The 17th kicked off week 31 for Baby L and I. Here's a re-cap in pictures.

A rare mom and dad shot: dinner on the plaza- 30 weeks, 6 days.

31 weeks with my little basketball!

Saturday we got up early to head east to visit the Widmer's. We had wanted to see the boys before the baby arrives. Kind of "one last hoorah" before we lose our "cool aunt and uncle" status once we become parents. The boys were a tad excited to see us. Well.....mostly excited to see their Uncle John. :)

We all enjoyed a yummy lunch at Shakespeare's.

Then enjoyed some play time at the park. Jack met some new friends at the park. He even tried to lure them into playing with him by inviting them to "come meet my Uncle John". Again....when Uncle John is around everyone else is chopped liver.

The best shot I could get of Bryce on the slide.

Time to swing!

After the park, the fun continued at the house post dinner and bath time.

One of the cutest parts of the day was Jack's curiosity towards his cousin in utero. He still thinks I "swallowed" him and is curious as to how he is going to get out. He was very sweet as he would hug, kiss, and zerbert my belly. Before he went to bed he got to feel him move. His reaction was priceless and was adiment that him kicking meant he is trying to get out. :) It's so fun to see this experience through a kids eyes and see them get equally excited.

And for an update on our little guy.....
I had another sono last Friday for my second BPP. He passed again with flying colors. His head still remains down, this time with a fist under his chin and a foot over one eye. Yes, you read that right, a FOOT over his eye. Silly baby! I was pleased to finally get another profile shot of him as he's been stingy most times not giving us a good shot. I'm looking forward to this Friday's BPP as they will measure him and check his growth.

The weeks are seriously flying by! We are getting so close to meeting our little man and we cannot wait.

Mom's Weekend Fun & Baby Shower

Baby L and I have finally recovered from the most fun weekend! I took PTO on Friday the 14th so I could kick off girls weekend with my family. My sisters had had my shower planned for Saturday along with a weeekend full of fun.

It was so fun to just relax and hang with the girls. It's been many years since that has happened. After a while of girl talk we all turned in for the night to prepare for our busy Saturday ahead.

Everyone arrived Friday around noon, just in time to hit up OK Joe's for lunch! It was a long and hot wait outside, but well worth it!

Post lunch we headed to my favorite nail spot downtown for pedicure. It was so nice to relax and get pampered.

Tweedle dee and tweedle dum

All of our pretty toes!!

Once our toes were all beautified we met John at a brewery in the crossroads for a beer (water for me!). We spent some time chatting before heading to The Legends for some shopping. Aunt Meggie was on a mission for some good deals with Aunt Malia's help. Grammy and mommy spent most of the time resting our feet. After a long day we headed back downtown to grab pizza at D'Bronx and head home for pj's and wine (again, more water for me!).

Malia came prepared with fun shirts for this special occasion. :) 2 boy moms and 2 girl moms!

Saturday was Baby Shower Day! After downing some yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast and relaxing a bit, we all got ready to head north to the clubhouse for the event. Mom and I dropped Malia and Meg off so they could prep the space, while we hit up Target for a fan (the clubhouse was HOT), coffee, and maternity/hospital goods (thanks, mom!). Once we were given the "all clear", we were free to enter the space and scope out the details.

Side note: My sisters did an AMAZING job on the shower and it could not have been more perfect. It was so perfect it even made me tear up.

Funny, quoted diapers for late night diaper changes.

The main table: so awesome that they stuck with the nautical theme of his nursery. The details were just perfect.

Refreshments!

Another table shot. The sailboat and hat also add to Baby L's nursery decor.

Yummy cupcakes! Lemon, Chocolate, and Vanilla.

Centerpieces for the tables- made out of our cloth diapers which we'll use as burp rags.

John and I as babies/toddlers. Just who will this kid look like?

The girls

With the hosts and Aunts!

The shower passed quickly between opening presents to trying to mingle with everyone that made an appearance. I'm ashamed that I have ZERO pictures of me opening any gifts as well as pictures with family and friends (aside from the ones with my mom and sisters).

Once we cleaned up the space we loaded up to head back to the condo to freshen up for dinner. The Terrain was literally packed to the top and Malia and Meg had to sit on top of each other. You can't even see Malia behind me in the picture below.

All of the goodies!

We had decided on Avenues Bistro in Brookside for dinner. I had never been but had heard great reviews. Dinner started off with a few cocktails, or in my case a "mocktail".

Which one of these is not like the other?

Rare but, fabulous mother/daughter photos!

In true Birnbaum fashion we left dinner immediately seeking options for dessert. We ended up trying Foo's Custard in Brookside, not far from our dinner spot. I had never been to Foo's, but had heard great things about it. It was definitely a hit as we all devoured our custart concoctions. They were so delicious and devoured so quickly that no one got a picture. Leaving Foo's we stopped at The Roasterie for coffee and headed home for pj's. We were all exhausted, but that didn't stop us from looking through all of the baby gifts again before bed.

Sunday came too quickly and everyone was up and out the door between 9-10. It truly was the most perfecct weekend! I'm so thankful for the time with my mom and sisters and this was definitely a weekend to remember forever. We all agreed that at least annually we need to leave the men in charge of the kids and enjoy a mother/daughter weekend.

Thank you again, sisters for showering your new nephew with so much love! Your nephew (and me) are so blessed!
