1st Family Vacation

We just got back and are working on recovering from our first family vacation! I'm pleased to report that we all returned in one piece and James was an absolute trooper the entire week despite some less than desirable diarrhea (thanks a lot Omnicef!) on our way.

Here we are, about to depart from KC and head for Chicago...

As we were about to land in Chicago we discovered James had a blowout. Here is John coming out of the plane bathroom with a naked James. Haha! John promised me that it was probably better that he changed him than me. He's probably right!

Check out James' smile at the flight attendant as John brought him out of the bathroom.
Waiting to board in Chicago to head to Raleigh. Post blowout #2- James is clearly trying to butter me up. :)

Grabbing a snooze early into the Chicago to Raleigh flight. Note the disposable changing pad under James. I was not interested in being poo covered. :)

About to land in Raleigh.

Not long after we arrived in Raleigh, we met up with some of John's family who got to meet James for the first time.

We survived the travel in and the first night in the hotel. We were about to head to lunch James thought he needed to grab a nap. Looks like the jet lag had set in.

James got to meet more family as we met cousin Brittany for lunch.

After lunch we headed for Myrtle Beach. James slept majority of the 3 hour drive. He really did great! Poor kid had been either confined to the stroller, carseat, or carrier for a good chunk of a 24 hour period.

Once we arrived to the beach, we made a mad dash to let James take it all in.

"What is this stuff?"
"Now this isn't so bad."
" I LOVE IT MOM AND DAD!"

On Wednesday we met up with more family. This time with John's cousin Kevin, wife Meredith, and their daughter Chloe, who is just 3 months older than James.

The remainder of the week revolved around some more beach and pool time (pictured below).

Ready to play in the sand.
Playing with the sand toys from Aunt Molly.
Enjoying the beach view from our balcony.
Another morning walk on the beach

Waiting on our yummy seafoo dinner one night. James did GREAT at dinner!

Checking out the sunrise on the beach from the balcony.
Playing in the room before some beach time.
This kid and his antics.
I mean, these eyes totally make me melt!

Loving the beach one last time before we head home.

Enjoying some adult only time on the beach while Grandmommy hung out in our room while James napped. We enjoyed some much  needed adult convo over a few adult beverages. :)

One final family shot on the beach.
We headed home on Saturday. I'm pleased to report we had zero blowouts on the way home and James slept 3 out of the 4 flights. Wahoo! Thank goodness for puffs, Sofie, and family to help keep this little babe distracted.

Hooray for puffs and Sofie!
Check out this adorable, fuzzy hair. :)

3 adults helping distract a restless babe as we approached KC.
Finally home!

We had a great trip and it was great to get away as a family. We definitely learned a lot of what we would and would not do next time. I think we were all tired Sunday night, especially this little nugget. :)

Until next time....
